Join us on Sunday, June 26th, 2011 for the 10th Annual Westchester Medical Center Biathlon (Now known as the WMC Duathlon). A Fund-raiser for the Joel A. Halpern Regional Trauma Center & Burn Center will be held on the gorgeous Westchester Medical Center Campus and the rolling hills - classic to Westchester county. Whether you are a dedicated triathlete excited to get in a race without having to enter cold spring water, a seasoned cyclist and runner wanting to try to combine your disciplines, or a first-time multisporter…this is the race for YOU!   • Entry fees are NON-REFUNDABLE.
  • All participants must be a current member of USAT by purchasing a one-year license through USA Triathlon for $39 OR purchase a one-day USAT license during registration for $10. All established USAT rules will be in effect and will be strictly enforced.
  • You must be at least 16 years old to participate in the Genesis Adventures Olympic event
  • You must be in good health and physically prepared to participate in the Genesis Adventures Event.
  • You must show a photo ID to pick-up your race packet. If you provided a USAT Membership number during registration you MUST show proof of membership by presenting a membership card. If you cannot provide proof of membership a 1-day license must be purchased prior toparticipating.
  • NO headphones on the course.
  • You must register by May 22nd to receive an event shirt.

Cancellation Policy

Entry fees are NON-REFUNDABLE. If the event is not sold out and you notify us prior to May 22nd we will attempt to transfer your entry to 2012. If the event is sold out the entry fee is NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE.

The Course

The Westchester Medical Center Biathlon (Duathlon) takes place on the gorgeous Westchester Medical Center Campus and the rolling hills classic to Westchester county that surround the campus. Click here to view map of the main event area.

Run Course 1

Line up for the start on South Plaza W - next to the Macy Oval. Head south looping around the bottom of the oval and taking an immediate right onto Bradhurst Entrance Rd. Stay to your left then take a left heading north on Woods Rd/County Rd 300. At the end of Woods Rd take a left onto Peripheral Rd. At the end of Peripheral Rd take a right onto Sunshine Cottage Rd - running through the NY Medical College Campus. Make a U-turn at the Aid Station and head back east on Sunshine Cottage Rd. Follow the bend in the road to the right and take a right onto South Plaza W - staying on the west side of Macy Oval. Follow signs and directions from helpful volunteers into the Transition Area. Bike Course

Exiting the TA...walk your bike to the road. Mount and ride around the south end of the loop and taking an immediate right onto Bradhurst Entrance Rd. At the end of Bradhurst Entrance Rd take a left heading north on Woods Rd/County Rd 300. At the end of Woods Rd take a right at the stop sign onto Westchester Penitentiary Rd. Ride over the bridge above the Sprain Brook Parkway. At the Stop sign take a right onto Rt 100/Bradhurst Ave. Follow Rt 100 south until the stoplight. Take a right onto Rt 100C/Grasslands Rd. Follow Grasslands west until you take a right onto Rt 9A North/New Saw Mill River Rd. **USE CAUTION on the turn onto 9A as it is a sharp turn that you will be approaching on a downhill** Follow Rt 9A North up the hill and down again for a little over 2 miles. **STAY ALERT to incoming traffic from the parking lots on your right. While we will have course marshalls and police on the course it is impossible to put a station at every intersection. STAY ALERT** Bear right (exit off Rt 9A) towards Brighton Ave/Rt 100 and Rt 141. Stay to your right off the ramp and take a right onto Rt 100/Brighton Ave. Climb up the hill on Rt 100 and you will arrive back at the Penitentiary Rd Entrance of Westchester Medical Center. AFTER LAP 1 YOU WILL NOT RE-ENTER the Westchester Medical Center Campus. Remain Straight on Rt 100 South and complete a second lap of the loop. After your SECOND LAP you will take a right onto Penitentiary Rd, crossing back over the Sprain Brook and entering back onto the WMC Campus. Stay straight at the stop sign and head west on Peripheral Rd. At the next stop sign take a left onto Sunshine Cottage Rd. Follow the bend in the road to the right and take a right onto South Plaza W - staying on the west side of Macy Oval. Please pay attention to "Bike Dismount" signs. Dismount and enter the TA. Bike Aid Station

There will be a combined bike/run aid station just after you exit the Transition Area. Racers should plan be self-sufficient while on the bike course - carrying all their own fluids/food.

Run Course 2

Exiting out of the Transition Area- head south looping around the bottom of the oval and taking an immediate right onto Bradhurst Entrance Rd. Stay to your left then take a left heading north on Woods Rd/County Rd 300. At the end of Woods Rd take a left onto Peripheral Rd. At the end of Peripheral Rd take a right onto Sunshine Cottage Rd - running through the NY Medical College Campus. Make a U-turn at the Aid Station and head back east on Sunshine Cottage Rd. Follow the bend in the road to the right and take a right onto South Plaza W - staying on the west side of Macy Oval. Run Aid Stations

There will be 1 aid station dedicated solely to the run course. It will be located at the U-turn on Sunshine Cottage Rd. Aid stations will have Orange Gatorade, water, soda, pretzels, and assorted gels.

Timing

Champion Chip Timing provided by Super Race Systems. You will receive your chip at race check-in on race day. The chip is worn around your ankle with a Velcro strap throughout the event. You will pass over timing mats as you enter and exit the transition area and at the finish line. You will hand your chip in once you cross the finish line. Timing results will include your times for - Run 1, Run to Bike transition, Bike, Bike to Run transition, and Run 2.

Rules & Regulations

As this event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon, we will be following USA Triathlon rules. USA Triathlon has issued a set of rules to maintain consistency and order from race to race across the country. The rules include sections on membership, and rules of conduct for swimming, cycling, running, and transition. Click here to go to USA Triathlon Rules page. There is an option to download the rules in PDF format for review as well as a separate section on Most Common Rules violations. We highly recommend that all participants review the USA Triathlon Rules and Common Rules Violations.

CHANGES TO REGISTRATION: Race day changes will not be available under any circumstance. Any requests to change an existing registration must be received to info@genesisadventures.com by June 1, 2011.

Hampton Inn White Plains-Tarrytown is an official host hotel for Genesis Adventures. In order to receive the event rate you can Register Online or call the hotel directly at 914-592-5680 and request the Genesis Adventures Rate. Rates and room availability are only guaranteed until May 26th. The majority of the rooms being held for our group are for Saturday night.

Packet Pickup

Sunday, June 26th ONLY
You can pick up your race packet at the event site on Sunday starting at 6:00 AM.

You must pick up your packet in person! Have ready a photo ID and a USA Triathlon license OR pay for a one-day license at time of pick-up (One-day license is $10.00). A photo ID is presented at packet pickup is a requirement for ALL participants on June 26th. NO PHOTO ID = NO RACE, NO EXCEPTIONS. For those who provided a USAT membership during registration, a current USAT membership card MUST be presented. If proof of USAT membership cannot be shown, a one-day license will need to be purchased in order to participate.

Event sanctioning and insurance compliance require every participant of a USA Triathlon sanctioned event to be a member of USA Triathlon and to present a photo ID. NO PHOTO ID, NO RACE, NO EXCEPTIONS. This applies to those who purchased a One-day USAT License online, you must present a photo ID at packet pickup.

If you provided an annual USAT member license number during registration you must SHOW proof of current membership in order to participate. If proof is unavailable then a one-day license must be purchased.

Awards & Medals

All finishers will receive a Westchester Medical Center Finisher Medal. Custom designed awards will be awarded 3 deep in each division for each event. The top 3 overall winners will receive overall awards and be taken out of their age groups (no double awards). You must be present at the awards ceremony to collect your award.
