Adventure Racing
Genesis Adventures and Outdoor Bound Adventures are pleased to announce our
2010 adventure racing date:
Sunday, Sep 19th - Wawayanda State Park
The Genesis / Outdoor Bound Sprint Adventure Race will feature 2-person teams trail running, mountain biking, and kayaking their way through some beautiful state parks. This is a new format for 2010 that should appeal to beginning and experienced racers alike. You'll spend an exciting day running, biking, and paddling your way through the woods remaining with your teammate throughout the race. Here is a summary of the three challenges you will face:
Trail Running - Novices will follow a marked trail running course of 4-6 miles. Experienced racers will follow the same route AND be required to locate additional checkpoints in the woods off the trail. Racers should have a good pair of running shoes and take along their own hydration.
Mountain Biking - Novices will follow a marked trail of 8-10 miles. You can expect some technical terrain and we definitely recommend a mountain bike with wide tires and front shocks. Experienced racer will also follow this route AND be required to locate additional checkpoints in the woods off the trail. Racers should also carry a water bottle with them during the biking section. You must supply your own mountain bike and helmet. Outdoor Bound is making arrangement for rentals if you do not have your own bike.
Kayaking - Each team will receive a 2-person sit-on-top kayak and paddles. You will receive instructions on how to navigate your way around the lake to find certain checkpoints. The kayaks are very stable and easy to paddle even if you have never tried before. Experienced racers are welcome to bring their own paddles.
