Accomodations

Days Inn - We do not have a Genesis Group rate since the online prices are better. Go to www.daysinn.com. Under the Quick Search area select New Jersey and McAfee. Select Dates. Check Rates and book room. The earlier you book the better.

There's also a campground called Black Bear Campground in Florida, NY which is only minutes away from the park.

Race Updates

Race Update #2 - The latest trip to Wawayanda was very exciting. The park will be one of our best venues. For the racers, there's lots of technical but open fireroad trails for mt. biking, beautiful trails for running and a long lake for paddling. I saw two black bears while scouting, fun, but a little shocking as we stumbled upon one another rather quickly. Fortunately they decided to head into the woods without telling mama bear.

We're going to recommend that each racer bring a pair of swimming goggles for the race. Also, bring the family! The park has picnic tables, BBQ pits, a playground, beach, swimming area w/lifeguards, bathhouse, consession stand and outdoor showers. There is a $7 per car fee to enter the park on Saturday, so carpooling is your best bet. We're working on a deal for those who want to check in on Friday evening.

Race Update #1 - Our first trip to Wawayanda State Park was during March with snow still on the ground. The park is beautiful with lots of double track roads to run and bike. The terrain is less hilly than Ringwood. The lake is nice a long, so the paddle should be fun. There will be lots of opportunities to cut corners on the navigation.
